This case study outlines the redesign of the user profile screen for the Vypr iOS app. The objective was to improve the user experience and add functionality while adhering to iOS design guidelines. The redesigned profile screen includes editable fields for name, birthday, gender, and a PayPal email address, along with a list of redemptions.
Challenge
The existing Vypr iOS app profile screen had usability issues and lacked clarity. It needed to accommodate essential user information, including the name, birthday, gender, and PayPal email address, while also displaying a list of redemptions. The challenge was to redesign the profile screen to enhance usability, improve visual appeal, and ensure iOS compatibility.
Solution
To address these challenges, the following steps were taken:
Research:
Studied profile pages from popular apps to understand common design elements and user expectations.
Analysed the existing Vypr profile page to identify areas for improvement, such as redundant labels and confusing elements.
Wireframing:
Developed wireframes to visualise the redesigned profile screen, focusing on improving the layout and usability.
Created multiple wireframe versions, iterating on design elements and user interface components.
Design Proposal:
Proposed a final design that incorporates essential user information, including the ability to edit name, birthday, gender, and PayPal email address.
Designed a clean and visually appealing profile screen with user initials or profile picture.
Added buttons for editing the profile, referring a friend, and accessing FAQs.
Included a list of redemptions, ensuring that recent redemptions appear at the top for easy access.
Employed contrast ratios and colour schemes to ensure accessibility and a pleasing visual experience.

What Could We Improve?

As an additional touch, we explored different colour schemes and design aesthetics to breathe new life into the profile screen, considering light and dark mode options. These concepts add a hint of color to the table and enhance the visual appeal of the profile screen, making it more engaging and aesthetically pleasing.
